Profile first

You never draw the marker. You pick a profile, as you would for an extrude, and the Studio places the marker in it.

The rule

  • Click inside a closed shape and press A (ArUco Extrude): the marker goes in the largest clear box that fits in that profile. Its holes are avoided, or, with Holes: Ignore, treated as if they were not there.
  • Want it somewhere exact? Draw a rectangle where it should go and double-click it: the rectangle alone is the profile, and it is used exactly, angle and all.
  • The automatic box's edges snap inward to a 0.1 mm grid; a rectangle profile is never snapped.

On the Plate example

The Plate is 120 × 80 mm with two Ø20 holes. Click its face and the core fits a 49.8 × 79.8 mm box between the holes, centred at (60, 39.9): a 37 mm marker. With Holes: Ignore the box is the whole 120 × 80 mm face. A 30 mm square drawn at the top right is used as drawn: a 22 mm marker, its sticker the square.

Click the face: the box between the holes, 49.8 × 79.8 mm.
Draw a 30 mm square: the marker fills it exactly.

Why

A marker belongs to a place on a part. Choosing the place by its profile is how every other CAD feature works, so there is one happy path for the common case and one for the exact case, and nothing else to learn.

“I prefer Unix tool philosophy, just like simple things. With kind of known happy paths and I do like it behaving a bit more like an extrude”

In the code: web_api.inscribe and fit_box; the contract's PlanRequest takes a profile, never a marker rectangle.
